At the very end of the transfer window, Leonardo activated several tracks in the direction of arrival … but also seems to have tried to push players from Paris Saint-Germain to the exit!
Looking back, Leonardo’s transfer window looks good. The sports director of Paris Saint-Germain has found a top striker who can support Mauro Icardi together with the young Italian Moise Kean. There is no option to buy in the Everton player’s loan, but if he returns to the level he was at when he started at Juventus, he could be a very useful offensive weapon for Thomas Tuchel. Then Leonardo finally found number 6 with Danilo Pereira, which PSG had been looking for since Thiago Motta’s departure. The latter could allow Tuchel to take down marquinhos in central defense, even though RMC Sport recently stated otherwise. After all, the recruitment of Alessandro Florenzi already appears to be unanimous. The former AS Roma midfielder turned right-back made a thundering Ligue 1 (6-1) debut under the PSG colors with an exceptional goal against SCO d’Angers.
Leonardo pushed Paredes towards Inter in exchange for Brozovic!
The list could have been longer! Fabrizio Romano actually informed us this Saturday that Leonardo made an approach at the very end of the transfer window for Marcelo Brozovic, which we already spoke about with you on August 27th. According to the Italian journalist on CM.com, the Paris Saint-Germain sports director wanted to finalize an exchange between Brozovic and Leandro Paredes. Inter executives would not have been interested, however, as they would not have seen Paredes as real added value compared to Brozovic. The latter would also have been addressed by Atlético de Madrid, who ultimately bet on Thomas Partey.
A bitter failure with Julian Draxler?
This summer, Leandro Paredes seems to have been suggested to Inter by more than just Leonardo. The latter doesn’t seem to be a big fan of the Argentine, whom he has suggested to other Serie A clubs as well as Chelsea in the Premier League. In addition to Paredes, the Paris Saint-Germain sports director has reportedly also tried to push Julian Draxler, whose contract ends next June, to exit. However, it was Thomas Tuchel who would have taken matters in hand … to convince his compatriot to stay with PSG! “I had a good discussion with Thomas Tuchel,” Draxler told BILD. “I felt like I still had a chance to play for the team and that I wasn’t excluded.”
