ICC Champions Trophy 2025

ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be played in March 2025 in Pakistan. However, due to India’s participation, It might be shifted to Dubai or Sri Lanka. Due to this, ICC didn’t have officially announced the official schedule of Champions trophy 2025.

As per PCB, it will be played from 19th February to 9th March 2025 in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Karachi. The ICC Champions Trophy will be played in 50 overs format among top 8 ranked ICC teams.

ICC Champions Trophy History

The inaugural edition of Cricket Champions trophy was hosted in 1998 in Bangladesh for the very first time. South Africa was the winner of first ICC Champions Trophy 1998 while West Indies was the runner up in first Champions Trophy. While, the last edition of Champions Trophy was played in 2017 in UK where Pak won the title.

The main moto behind conducting Champions was to promote Cricket in associate nations and raise the funds for the development of Cricket in those nations. Later due to popularity and earnings, ICC started conducting these events in Countries Like, UK, India and Australia.

ICC Champions Trophy Format

ICC Champions Trophy is an event of 50 over format where top 8 teams of ICC ODI Ranking qualifies for the event. Since 2009, the tournament has featured eight teams divided into two groups of four. Each group plays in a round-robin format.

The top two teams from each group advance to the semi-finals, where a single loss can lead to elimination. The tournament includes 15 matches in total and lasts about two and a half weeks.
